Week Five: Damn hormones can affect everything
07/02/2024
As most of my friends and family know, I decided last year that I wanted to give my body a rest from contraception. I had been on the injection since i met my husband coming up six years ago now, so it had to be done. While on the injection, I did not get my period at all, so my body was completely out of any sort of natural cycle. It has taken its time but week five saw my body finally decide that it was time for me to get a period. Of course this happened over a long weekend and I was determined not to let this get the better of me, so pushed through all the pain and managed to do a walk three days in a row and then hit the gym on Tuesday. It is fair to say that perhaps that was too much for me as the rest of the week, even though I had stopped bleeding, I was slow and tired, so did not manage any more exercise. I also sought comfort in chocolate, which thankfully was keto friendly, as I have a stash of this on hand for when I feel the need to indulge.
During week five my husband and I had a night to ourselves, so decided to have a date night. This was not a Keto dinner, so I am not surprised that week five saw an increase in my weight.
I am not worried as I know that I am still very early in my journey and I do not want to have to give up everything. All things are ok in MODERATION.
Week five I started at a total loss of 5.8kg since starting the journey and by the end of the week I was 4.7kg lost since the start.
This is where in the past I would have given up and decided that this was too hard, but having been through this before I know what I need to do and I know what support I need, so I will reach out for it when I need it.
I have an amazing group of people around me that help remind me that this is merely a bump in the road and that next week will be better. I just need to ride the wave.
Week six has started strong with a loss of 1.4kg bringing the total lost so far to 6.1kg. Let's see if I can get back on track and stay on track.
