Week One: How did I start off the year

07/01/2024

Week one was overall a great start to my journey.

While I had set goals for Week One that I didn't end up completely sticking to, I am very happy with the overall result.

Losing 3.3kg over the week is a great start. It shows that I have the determination to get back on track and make healthier decisions.

My goal of going to the gym 3 times this week while it seemed manageable when I made the decision, as the week progressed my body told me otherwise.

Monday morning the alarm went off and I turned it off and went back to sleep. Clearly my mind and body needed more sleep. I ended up going to Whatipu caves in West Auckland and walked around the caves, so I still did something and it was great to spend time with my family while we were able to.

Tuesday morning I went to the gym before my reception shift. This started my day off great and gave me a boost of energy.

The rest of the week I was back at work full time and was just too tired once I was done for the day to want to go to the gym and I was not motivated in the mornings to get up to go to the gym. So I allowed myself the rest I was still clearly needing.

I went for my normal walk on Saturday morning with Lynne. Did a good nearly 6km walk around Orewa and then had a catch up with coffee afterwards.

Sunday was Race Day. This meant I was down at Rosebank Speedway for the day. This meeting was different though as my Nephew was with us, so I spent most of the day chasing after him.

Overall I am happy that I started this journey well and cannot wait to see where the rest of the year takes me.
